Types of Moulding

Moulding is a process where products are manufactured by shaping liquid or pliable material in a rigid frame to make a product.  A mould is a hollow block, in which liquid, glass; metal and clay are filled in, to produce different products. The liquid or clay then takes the shape of that frame, this way moulding is done. Moulding is done by many companies, like MATECH Company, which specialises in plastic moulding and Injection Moulding.

Types of moulding

Plastic Moulding shapes plastic in a rigid frame, to produce the products in that shape, and it has huge design flexibility. There are different types like rotational moulding, blow moulding and compression moulding. The products are moulded plastic containers, plastic urine pot, corrugated pipe glands, plastic tiffin box, kalong moly, press saddle, moulded kitchen products, plastic ear model, mould mugs, plastic framework panels. Vide range of products are manufactured by this process. Injection moulding is one type of plastic moulding. It is the process of producing the various parts, by injecting material into the moulds. The materials used are metal, glass, confection, elastomers. This is used to produce wire spools, packaging, bottle cap, Gameboys, pocket combos, mechanical parts, tables and chairs. It is the most effective modern way of producing high volume of same object.

Advantages and disadvantages

The main advantages are
  • Production takes place very fast.
  • High volume of same product is produced at a very high speed in a short span of time.
  • Labour cost is low, which makes the profit high of the particular products.
  • Recycling is easy and affordable; it can be re used in many ways.
Disadvantages
  • The machinery are very expensive that are used for production.
  • There are always restriction imposed on design
  • Impractical at small levels, they are meant for high volume production.
Moulding is a very important and efficient process, with the help of many products are produced in a large volume.
